Broken leg...

So for the last three weeks I have been sporting a black cast! Yep, I broke my leg while getting off my bike. My clipless pedal decided not to "unclip"! So my activity lately has consisted of hoping from one room to another or using crutches! Booooo!! The good news is that it could have been worse and I know that I will be able to put one foot or leg in front of the other soon!

Thoughts, motivation and ......

Good Morning Friends!! I found this picture and although I wish that was me in it :) I found the words to be very true. Especially the part "You can do whatever YOU decide to do". Wow, powerful and so true but sometimes very hard for me to put in to practice. I start out strong and decide that "this is the last time" and then I lose motivation when the scale moves slowly!! Instead of pressing on I just quit. I am a quitter when it comes to weight loss. I am just being honest! I do always go back and attempt it one more last time! I weighed in today and lost 1.6 I believe. I looked at a calendar from last year and I weighed 3 pounds MORE!! This past year was a tough one. Three deaths in the family and sibling drama. When I looked at that calendar I had a huge epiphany. So, I am not at my goal weight by any means, but at the same time I didn't gain more weight even with the emotional circumstances.
That counts for something in my book! :)

I am still training for the tri but with this heat it takes a lot of self convincing to get out there and do it. I have not exercised in the last 3 days. I have a fever blister, it looks like Mike Tyson punched my lip. I loathe fever blisters!!! I didn't want to go out in the heat because I feared it would grow even more.  Tonight it will get done even if I have to run in the dark, promise!!

Life is good, I am on summer vacation! I love spending time with my little family, catching up on lunch dates with dear friends, reading and just relaxing and waking up refreshed. I feel blessed because I have the love and support of a lot of simply amazing people. They continue to love and support me no matter how many times I fall.

Have a great weekend and keep pressing on! We want it so let's go get it!!

Dangerous but cute!!

So.. those of you who know me personally know that if I am going to do something, I might as well look cute while doing it. Vain, I know! You can dislike me for this but I highly recommend it. It makes me feel like although I may not be the fastest or the trimmest one out there, I still look decent. Just being honest!!

Well I didn't realize how dangerous these little cuties were until I took two tumbles. I just suffered a couple of bruises but my ego, well lets just say that was hurt the most. I got back on the bike today and rode 7.1 miles injury free! I still have fear well lets just call it a bit of respect towards the clipless pedals.

I am either running, cycling or swimming to train for the triathlon on August 14th. The distances for this one is a 300meter swim, a 11 mile bike ride and a 3 mile run. I can't complete this one without training so I am doing my best to stay active with this Texas heat.

The weight loss is sssssllllllowwww but I am not quitting friends! It looks like we will be going to Costa Rica for Christmas. I am envision myself on the beach in a tankini and feeling great about it!

It's going to be a long process but I am thinking that it will be totally worth it.

Summer ....

I started this blog almost a year ago with the intent of being at my goal weight by now. Well ... I didn't accomplish it. This is a bit hard to type but at the same time I have not given up! That is something semi positive right? I started reading the book Made to Crave and I was making progress but then I put it down and quit reading it. Why? Fear perhaps that this time I was going to get to my weight goal. Crazy isn't it?!?

I am training for another Tri on August 14th and it will be here before you know it. So my goals for the summer are simple. Enjoy the time off with my family (the hubs is a teacher too), train at least 6 days a week, devote 30 minutes to organizing, track my points oh and one more thing, pick up the book and finish it!!

Happy summer and thanks for sticking with me!

Triathlon ..... check!!! :)

I participated in my first super sprint tri on Mother's Day!! I was super nervous at first but I loved it. Was it hard? Absolutely, because I didn't train as much as I should have. Those who know me will not be surprised by that! :) I had set my goal to complete it by 1:30 and actually completed in 1:10 ... not to shabby for my fist tri.

I loved it so much that I signed up for a sprint tri in August. I will definitely train for this one. My goal is to complete it in 1:55. Fingers crossed that I meet my goal, please.

Weight loss .... humm I am a bit stagnate in this department. I lost 1.4 this week but I am not tracking like I should be. If I don't track, well I don't lose. Humm if I know this then why oh why don't I do it!! Million dollar question .....

I watched the Ironman here in the Woodlands. Man, what an inspiration to see people of all shapes and sizes cross that finish line. It was an amazing experience to see the professionals cross the finish. The people like you and me that crossed the finish
instantly became my heroes.

School is almost out for the summer so plan on hearing from me more often friends!!

Missed y'all!

Busy....

I have been super duper duper busy. Health wise I have been doing okay. Weight loss,.... well, one week I go up and the next week I come down. I am working out like crazy but not doing such a great job of counting points. Ummm, pretty sure that I am supposed to be doing both. :) I have started the Insanity workout series and my goodness, if you want a preview of haites, I suggest you try out those workouts!!They are tough, tough, tough but I feel great once it is over. The best part about it is that the hubs and I are working out together. Kind of love it!!

I have been eating more than normal because I am a teacher and these budget cuts are scary!! By the same token I just have a sense that everything is going to be okay and that things will be "fixed" soon. Way too positive at times, but, it works for me.!!

I am going to the doctor on Friday and I will post my weight then .....eek!

I am doing my first sprint triathlon on Mother's Day!! I figured what better to celebrate my mom, MIL and all of the other special moms out there.

Have a great week and Happy Easter just in case I don't get to post before then.

Much love,

Lucy K

I am still here ......

I am still here just have not posted in forever and a day or heck more like a month. Well I got down to 156, (clap clap cheer cheer cheer) took a trip and got back to 163. It was quick, like 5 days quick!! So what did I do .... instead of jumping back on the wagon I decided to watch the wagon trot away! School has been crazy, life has been hectic and all of a sudden I have fallen into old habits. Now I am ready to trot, possibly sprint back to the wagon and get on it again. I am not going to concentrate on the negative. Everyone trips, falls and heck sometimes takes a huge plunge.

So here I am dusting off and ready to get this party started yet again.

On a super happy note .....It's Spring Break and I am off for the next 9 days!!! Yeeehaaaaaaw!!!

If only I could "jar up" the feeling of accomplishment

I just returned from a 3.4 mile jog and it was GREAT! It was relaxing, fulfilling and challenging all at once. While I was on my jog-trot I though to myself that if I could bottle up the feeling of accomplishment that I feel when I finish a workout .... I could do an IronMan! I love, love and let me say it again love how I feel afterwards.

I always have great intentions of working out. In fact if I would actually complete all of the workouts that I think about doing in the morning, I would be at my goal weight and have a terrific body!

So since I can't bottle "the feeling" up I will read this post whenever I am feeling sluggish, hesitant or just flat out lazy!

I hope everyone has a super fantastic week,

Lucy :)

New Kicks and a Tshirt to go with the mission!

Hi Friends,

The hubs and I decided that in order to properly start my journey I needed new "Kicks". Here they are and they are purple no less! I am hoping that they make me faster than what I am! It's going to take more than the shoes ... I realize that! :)

Since it was super duper chilly outside I decided to wear my new sweater headband to keep the ears warm.

To complete the training I go a 100% possible shirt! I think that striving toward our goals and achieving them is 100% possible! Pardon the muffin top .... it will be gone!

I ran 2.5 miles and jumped rope 200xs. I need to incorporate abs and arms. That will get done tomorrow.

My Inner Warrior!!!

Last week one of my good friends teamed up with the hubs to convince me to sign up for "The Warrior Dash". Check out The Warrior Dash and see what I have gotten myself into! It consists of a 3. something mile race and obstacles! Yep obstacles, tires, sand dunes and fire! Yeah, you read it right FIRE! What on earth was I thinking?!?!

We went to church last night and prayed, I mean seriously prayed. I want to find my mission or purpose in 2011. I want to be a better version of ME. I want Him to transform me into who I am supposed to be. So is it far fetched that maybe I signed up because He is going to start of by showing me my inner warrior, my strength. Is that crazy of me to think, yeah maybe it is, but maybe it is the truth. I don't know, I just have a feeling that this is the first step to my inner transformation. I have always wanted to transform from the outside in, maybe this time I will transform from the inside out!

How do I plan on training for this. I will start each day with some much needed quite time a daily devotional. I think this will help me in more ways than just the start of my day. I have let my quite time go by the wayside. I am thinking about purchasing the insanity workout. Any thoughts on this? I will continue to count points and attend my meetings.

I am in search of my inner warrior and I think I may just find her in 2011!

I hope everyone has a great week and if you have purchased the insanity workout series please let me know how you like it.

First WI of the 2011

Well ... I didn't get to go to my meeting Monday but I did Weigh In at home and I weighed in at 166.6. I think I am retaining water or something ..... hahaha

I am looking forward to next Monday to see that number go down!

Have a great week everyone,

Lucy :)

Here comes .... Monday!

I am not looking forward to weigh in tomorrow but whatever the number is ... I will own it and move on. My weigh in date is Monday so that is when I will count my 5 days of exercise too. I went for a 3 mile jog yesterday and it went well. I have finally realized that I am not going to be a speed demon or a race contender but at least I am out there getting it done! To be honest I enjoy the slower pace because I can actually hear my iPod instead of my huffing and puffing. :)

I go back to work tomorrow and although I have loved every minute of my vacation and spending time with my family...  I need the routine! I do much better tracking my points when I am working. A) The fridge or pantry are not in my classroom ... thank goodness B) I am too busy teaching to think about mindless eating.

I am excited about 2011, I was looking back and at this time last year I weighed 171. So I did lose weight in 2010 but I am confident that this year I will get to my goal weight, be fit and most of all thrive to become a better person.

To help me with this endeavor I have printed 3 of the signs that my dear friend Erin  created at http://www.craftsandsutch.blogspot.com/ the signs read babm which stands for be a better me. I highly suggest that you check out her blog .... she is super creative, talented and offers a printable of babm and many tutorials on how to make some of her super cool stuff !! I am planning on keeping one in my office, one on my nightstand and one in my classroom. This will serve as the reminder that I need to help achieve all of the promises that I have made for 2011 to ME!

Have an outstanding week everyone!

Lucy K :)
