My 15 day streak was rudely interrupted!

Thursday we decided to go out to eat and I decided that I would have a bake potato and a side salad. Withing 30 minutes of leaving the restaurant my stomach started gurgling and the cramps set in. Withing an hour I was in severe pain and the bathroom and I became pals. Needless to say I was in bed that evening and could not run. I took off yesterday because I was still not feeling like I could run. I felt okay but my stomach was still super sensitive and I was extremely tired.

So, with that being said I have decided to start my 15 day streak of running once again. I am going to tweak it and say that I will either run at least a mile or do some form of cardio like bodycombat or kickboxing for the next 15 days. I may run all 15 days or I may mix it up. I want to do this because I have noticed some soreness in my feet when I wake up. The hubs thinks it's from running on concrete day after day.

I went back to WW's today and I weighed in at 168.6. Here I go, here I go once again... drop the weight, drop the weight!

Have a great weekend :)

Still running .....

I am still running everyday! I think my neighbors think I am part hamster. I say this because I wait to run until 9:00 or so at night and I run up and down our street. It's so funny that I am getting to "know" my neighbors routines. I know who will be sitting out in the garage, who will be grilling which by the way is torture as I am running. I am still far from in love with running but I am liking it more, just a tad bit each day.

So I had to go to the doctor yesterday and he insisted that I get a tetanus shot. One word, OUCH!!! The shot was painful but the aftermath of it is even worse. I woke up with a golf size ball on my arm and it feels like I did 500 push ups on just that arm. Boo on the shot but the good news is I don't have to do that again for 10 years.

My weight loss is still minimal but I feel like I am getting in shape more and more each day.

Have a terrific day and smile at a complete stranger and make someones day. :)

7. I am a Middle School Spanish teacher.

I promise to post the 15 newly discovered blogs tomorrow ... I am sleepy!

My runs and tracking points :)

HI! I have not blogged in quite sometime. My three sisters were in town and we had a fantastic time. The "eats" (my eating habits) were not exactly the best but we had a great time and it was all well worth it. I did run while they were here so at least I didn't let my running go. I am a bit depressed because they are gone and last night I felt like drowning my sadness in food, but I didn't! Instead I went out for a jog and it felt great. I am five days into my 15 day running challenge so I have 10 more days to go! I can do it or so I think I can. :)

I have decided to be brave and add another challenge to the mix! I am going to journal everything that I eat for the next 15 days. Hello, I should be doing this anyway since I am paying WW's! I am going to weigh in this Saturday and continue my weigh ins for at least 3 weeks. Small steps ... small steps will eventually turn into bigger and bigger steps. :)

Happy Monday to all and thanks for following my journey!

Today I begin my 15 day challenge!

After successfully completing my 11 day challenge I took 3 days off to let the legs rest. Today I kept feeling a bit antsy and ready to hit the streets again, to run of course, nothing else! So I took off on my run and it felt great, almost liberating and I almost felt like I missed running. Hard to believe quite frankly. Me, Lucy, miss running? Impossible but yet so true.
So I have decided to start my 15 day challenge today. I will run at least 1 mile for the next 15 days, continue with the 100 crunches and add 33 girlie push ups. I am hoping to shed 5 pounds during the next 15 days too!
My relatives are still in town and I am enjoying them thoroughly. I will go back to the "real world of WW's starting Monday". I have not gone to a meeting in almost a month. I promise that I will weigh in next Saturday! Pinky promise to all! I am not going to weigh myself until then. Yikes a little scary to think of the fact that I will not weigh in until then. I am a twice a week, okay three times a week weigher! (I know that is not even a word) as of today, I declare it a word! Haaaaa
Wish me luck and feel free to join me on my challenge!

Yay I did it ...11 day challenge check

So as the title of this blog states, I did it! I set out to run at least one mile for 11 days straight and guess what? I did it! This is huge because I usually start out strong but around day 5 or 6 I say, "ummm that's enough of that" and flat out quit. I had great runs and I had extremely hard runs. Slow and even slower runs but they got done!
I am super excited that I followed through and did it. Now I need to work on my eating! I am still not 100% counting points which I need to change. I am not going to lose weight unless I get my counting on track!!
It felt amazing to put my goal first and regardless of what the day brought I still did what I needed to do for me.

Day 4,3, 2 (Wow it is close to the finish)

I apologize for not blogging everyday but my family is in town from Mexico and I don't get to see them very often at all. I have spent a lot of time hanging out, shopping and eating. Yeah, my eating when family is here is not so good. They are on vacations and I apparently go "on WW's vacation" while they are here. Not good huh?

Running ... well I have one more day and I will have officially completed my 11 day challenge! I might add that although I have had company it hasn't stopped me from going out and running. Sometimes it is at 10:30 at night but I get out there and do it! Day 4 I ran 2.25, day 3 I ran 1.2 and day 2, today I ran 2.2. How does it feel, well part of me is in complete shock that I am 1 day away from completing this task! I am excited but scared! Scared of what? Of the fact that I set out to do something and I am actually going to follow through and finish it! This is something that I set out to do for me, and I did it! Crazy isn't it!?! I set out to do something and I completed it and it scares me!!

I think that it has shown me that if I trully stick to WW's I will lose the weight. For some reason it scares the hell out of me to actually lose weight! Does anyone else out there feel this way?!?

Thanks for the award that I got from .... I will have to go back and look! I was so excited to get it and I promise that I will figure out how to post it and do what it requires me to do on Sunday. We are off to Austin to visit with the family. I will catch back up with you my bloggie friends Sunday!!

Thanks for sharing this journey with me :D

Day 5

Ran 2.25 miles last night. It was a good little jog! I must admit it was 9:45 and I thought I must put on my running shoes and go. It was awesome to not have that "yuck" feeling behind the thought of having to go and jog. I think my approach to running has totally changed. I have come to the realization that I am never going to remotely come close to being a competitive runner but at least I am out there doing it! The only time that I will "sprint" is if I am being chased by a human or a dog! I no longer concentrate on the huffing and puffing of by body. I concentrate on the fact that I have a body that works!
A very dear friend of mine lost her mother this past year. Her mom was in a wheelchair for most of her life. I never once pitied her mother because she was a pillar of strength and she didn't pity her own self! She never allowed the wheelchair to stop her from being part of events. Most of the time she was THE event coordinator. She was one of the classiest, funniest, kind hearted souls and just a sweet spirit in peoples life. I often "take" her along on my runs. When I think, "I can't go one step further" I often find myself taking that extra step because I know she would have wanted to take one step out of that wheelchair.
Is there anyone you take "along" on your runs?

Day 6 ...

I jogged 2.25 miles last night. I can't believe that I am doing it, I am! It's an amazing feeling to set out to do something and then actually be on the road to accomplish it!. I need to get my eating into sync with my exercising. I am not eating terrible but I am not counting points either! I have relatives from out of the country so they want to eat things that they don't have in their country. I don't blame them because when I visit them I want to do the same.
The effects of exercising are definitely well worth it. I seem to be in a good mood all the time and I don't want to nap 24/7! It feels great ...so why is it that I go through spells of being a total couch potato?!?!? Not anymore!
How long did it take you to see the results of your hard work?

Day 8 and 7

Sorry for the late report but we went out of town for the weekend. I am superduper proud of the fact that I still continued to run through out our trip. Friday, I went to kickboxing and after the class I decided to try to get my run in. I got on the treadmill and knocked out 1.53 miles, after kickboxing! :) I was on cloud nine because I finally felt a glimpse of "I can do this".

Saturday I got up at 6:30 and jogged/walked a total of 3.43 miles before we left for the trip. It felt great to be done with my workout before 8:00 in the morning!

Tonight,(Sunday) we got home around 9:00 pm. I dropped my bag in the bedroom, changed and headed out for a mile and a half jog. :)

I am proud of the fact that I have stuck to my little challenge. The Lucy before would have dropped out by day 3 and found excuses of why I "NEEDED" to quit. Not this time!

My eating is not as good as it should be but I am working on it. I have visitors from out of town and I have decided to take them along on my journey. We will eat healthy and exercise and posibbly treat ourselves a bit because they are on vacation.

I may not have the body that I want ....YET but I do feel like I am getting a little stronger each day.

1, 2 or 3 miles ..... what will it be?

It has finally stopped raining here .... alleluia, alleluia, alleluyaaaaaaah! I couldn't run on the streets because of the rain yesterday so I hit the treadmill in our garage. Who needs hot yoga when I have a treadmill in the garage in the Texas heat! I ended up jogging/walking 4 miles!!! I didn't realize how much I miss those stop signs and street signs until yesterday. I play those mind games like, "You can stop and walk at the third stop sign". On the treadmill I had to say, "You can stop and walk after the the 3rd song is over".

The scale is slowly and I mean slowly going down. I wonder why it is such a slow process. My body has been hovering around the 165's for almost two years!! I am counting points and exercising like mad! I know this process is worth it and I continuously tell myself that!I am not going to quit, no mam, not this time!!

Question to those of you who are doing WW's or have done it in the past. Do you eat all of your activity and flex points?

Have a super Friday! :D

Day 10

Yesterday I did bodycombat and then came home and ran 2 miles on the treadmill. I did it without stopping to walk which is a pretty big accomplishment for me. I am thinking that today will be another 2 miler. Syl has inspired me to do 100 crunches so I am going to add that to my challenge as well. My challenge was inspired by 21 days I eventually want to go from 11 days to 21 days!! Both of these ladies have amazing blogs so check them out.

I have been blogging about a week or two and I absolutely love it!. I have learned some great tips and I feel like I am on this journey with other "friends". Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving such positive comments.

Have a super day :D

Blogging ?

If I want to mention someones blog in my post how do I do it? Do I have to copy and paste their URL? I would rather it be the name of the blog like I have seen on other blogs. Thank you for being patient with me ... I am new at this. BTW there are some amazing blogs out there!!

My 11 day challenge

I am going to run at least 1 mile for the next 11 days! Here I go, here I go, please wish me luck! :)

Tracking and Exercise at war with each other!!

So here is my challenge ... I workout like a mad woman and then not track or I track and then not workout. Seriously, how is this a productive way to lose weight, let's see, it's not! I only had a .whatever loss this week and realized that I have to do both. Hello Lucy!! It's not rocket science is it??? Why do I have such a hard time doing both? I think I am looking at the big picture and when I do it scares my face off! This is typically the point at which I say, "Adios, I am fine with the way I look". Well truthfully, I am not so I need to suck it up and do both. I had a bad case of the summer lazzies yesterday but I still worked out 2 hours. Yay me! I have the support of my family and friends but most importantly I now have my "bloggie friends" and I know you guys won't let me quit. So here is to tracking and exercising, doing both and not picking just one!
Here is my self challenge for the week! Exercise everyday, track every day and drink at least 90 ounces of water.
Thanks for supporting me on this journey!

Three things I realized ...

Tuesday a friend of mine, we will call her Betty, called and said, "What are you doing and how hot is it?" I new right when I said nothing but it is super hot outside that she was going to say let's go for a run. It's 3:00 in the afternoon and blazing hot! I knew she wouldn't let me be a wimp about it and that is one of the things that I love about our friendship. We headed out and did 5 minutes of walking and 5 minutes of jogging. About 2.5 miles into it I started over heating and had to stop and walk. I had one thing in mind, finishing the jog and proving to myself that I could do it. I kept telling myself that the jog was going to represent my weight loss, it was going to be hard and at times grueling but I am not going to stop until I hit goal! We made it home and that was when I realized three things: 1. I can do something that is challenging and not quit this time. 2. I need to wear sunscreen next time because my back was completely fried and 3. I have an amazing support system (my husband Chris, Betty, E, D, and all of my now Blogging Buddies) I can do this and I am going to do this.
Tonight I went for a jog and it was great! It was at 9:00 so it was dark, so my sunburn wasn't to painful. I ran 2.75 and it was great. I listened to Christian music and just thanked God for giving me a body that I can use. It is not perfect by any means but it works!
Today is one of those days were I feel like I can accomplish my goals .... what a great feeling that is!
